Visa and Switch offs!

 I don't have a lot of time left this pday so I will try my hardest to make this worth reading!! 

-last Monday evening we didn't have an appointment with anyone so we had to go out finding. We couldn't go too far because it was already dark, so we pick a nearby street and start walking down. Not a whole lot of success. Trying to invite people but they were all busy and not interested... there were a few times where we thought it would be better to just make phone calls because it was getting dark, but we went a little farther and we see a lady and her daughter sitting in their little shop. I felt the spirit say "talk to them." So I did. And they became new investigators! 

The next day we had to wake up at 4 am to go to Bangkok for my companion’s visa. As we're biking in the dark we hear some barking in the distance. The barking gradually gets louder and then we see a pack of dogs HUNTING US DOWN! It was one of the scariest moments of my life one of them was just inches away from biting my ankle. We even crashed into each other once because my comp freezes when she sees scary dogs but we incredibly didn't fall over and get eaten and I just kept screaming DON'T STOP DON'T STOP KEEP GOING!!! Long story short they stop chasing us and we never did get bit. 

Had switch offs on Friday which was awesome! 

I know that this gospel is true and that what EVERY PERSON needs the most is Jesus Christ in their life and to use the Atonement in their life. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers - I'm still working on my personal conversion, but so does everyone!

English Camp and Giant Pigs

Disclaimer*: this week's email contains an account of our dealings with animals. Many animals. This week flew by.  So fast.  My greenie companion doesn't think so, but once you serve for a little bit longer things just fly by!  Speaking of flying, we had a bird make a nest, lay an egg, and sit right by out door this past week!  We would have to carefully open the door when we got home.  But the repair man came today to fix something and he threw the bird's nest away!  It was so sad I almost cried!

There are these little lizards called jingjoks that get into our house sometimes. Freaks me out. 

This week we had a service opportunity in a town about an hour away to do an English Camp (whatever that means) we thought we would just be teaching one of our normal English lessons but it turns out it was more like an assembly and ALL of the activities we had planned didn't really work. So the Filipino teachers took over and I ended up doing the hokey pokey on a stage in front of 400 kids. Yep. BUT, there was a miracle that happened! One of the Filipino teachers mom is a member of the church, and she had wanted her to find the church in Thailand! She is now one of our investigators! Sister Mittavong and I role play in English now to prepare for our lessons with her! 

I don't have much time but I have loved studying Mosiah 3:19 and studying the difference between the natural man and being a saint! Yay missionary work! We have to wake up way early tomorrow and go into Bangkok to do my companions visa. So early.

"Someone shoot that dog right now!"

This week I saw the ugliest dog I have ever seen. I almost fell off of my bike in shock and threw up when I first saw it. It was so ugly. I'll have to take a picture of it next time. 

There are so many dogs here. Pray for me they are so scary! We were walking down a little quiet street with hardly anyone home. We were walking and we see this dog come out of nowhere. It starts growling and then a few more dogs come out. We froze for a little bit (usually we're on bikes) and backed a little and then tried to turn back, when like 4 or 5 dogs from behind come out and they start growling and barking. I bend down slowly and pick up a rock, and my comp just freezes in fear. Thank goodness there was a man close by working on his car, I called to him and asked him to scare the dogs away. He picks up a stick and starts swatting, and we were happily on our way!

I love this quote from President Nelson. It reminds me to always be grateful and joyful in life. I hope I can be more like that! 

 English class we had a fashion show with a runway and music. The rest of the students had to be like the judges and describe what they were wearing. Way fun. 

For the first time yesterday I saw rice fields! Like real ones!! They were so beautiful! It actually reminded me a lot of southern Alberta and all the fields there. The members in the car thought my face was funny gaping at all the rice fields. Thailand is so beautiful. We've been able to help women sort chili peppers for service, picking off the stems and flip sun baking bananas. 

I hear roosters every morning (and dogs moaning and this old guy who coughs and coughs until he spits- so gross). So grand. 

Despite everyone not answering, saying they're not free, saying they're only interested in learning English, we were able to get 2 of our few investigators to church! Even though as missionaries we experience disappointments everyday, Heavenly Father ALWAYS sends blessings and something our way - your way. We just have to have the faith to see the miracles.
